This year I promised myself that I would do simple pumpkin carving with Caleb. The big issue is that I am way too competitive with myself and feel the need to top last year’s efforts. Simple was fine…until a pumpkin carving contest 2 blocks from our house was announced and I really wanted the prize. *sigh* This is the result of my “simple” pumpkin resolution.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee. As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role. I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Jonathan’s Card is an experiment in social sharing of physical goods using digital currency on mobile phones. I stumbled on the idea while doing research for a blog post about Broadcasting Mobile Currency.

Based on the similarity to the “take a penny, leave a penny” trays at convenience stores in the US, I’ve adopted a similar “get a coffee, give a coffee” terminology for Jonathan’s Card.

As it turns out, this is actually a new take on a wonderful old italian custom called Caffe Pagato, which translates to English as “Coffee Paid”. Thanks to Francesco Pierfederici for alerting me to this article: Italian Lifestyle: the “caffe’ pagato” (paid coffee) Custom

I usually buy my wheatgrass shots at Booster Juice. It’s semi convenient because it’s right beside my house but at $2.99/oz it’s almost as bad as getting a daily Starbucks fix. Then I found a Canadian company’s website that allows you to buy bulk frozen wheatgrass. I bought 100 oz (the minimum amount they allow) to try it and it works out to $1.89/oz this way. The free shipping had it to me in just over 24 hours and it came very well packed. It’s more convenient because it’s right in my freezer and because you thaw it by stirring it into a glass of water the taste is not bad AT ALL! Also, did you know that 1 oz of wheatgrass has the health benefits of 2.5 lbs of leafy green veggies?! So far I don’t see a downside. :)

I’ve also toyed with the idea of growing my own, which would be much much cheaper, but I kill even the most low maintenance houseplants so it seems unlikely that I can grow trays of grass…
